On Stage! Musical Theater Institute

Ready for the best summer ever? Learn about life on the stage with top performing artists and arts educators!



On Stage! is an exciting performance camp for young performers ages 6-18. Students will act, sing, and dance to songs and scenes from favorite musicals!

Budding artists also learn to speak clearly and confidently on stage while discovering fun characters from some of their favorite Broadway shows through voice and movement.

Cost of registration is $350. All registrations received prior to March 15, 2013 receive a $50 discount off of Institute tuition.  A $100 deposit is due at the time of registration, with the balance due on or by July 1, 2013.

Shelby holds a Master’s degree in Music with a concentration in vocal performance from Peabody Conservatory, where she was named the “Outstanding Voice Student” in 2011. While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Birmingham Southern College, she studied piano with a Steinway artist and was recognized as the top vocalist from 2007 to 2009. Shelby has studied with many distinguished professionals, including Jennifer Casey Cabot, William L. DeVan, Eileen Cornett and Jerome Shannon.

Shelby has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe in such roles as Mozart’s Queen of the Night, Offenbach’s Olympia (The Doll), Menotti’s Lucy from The Telephone and Verdi’s Sister Genovieffa from Sour Angelica. She has also performed as a soloist with various orchestras. Among other prestigious awards, Shelby placed first in the Maryland/Washington, D.C. National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, Frances & Dorsey Whittington Competition, Alabama National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition and Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition.

Shelby began teaching voice and piano professionally in 2005. She enjoys teaching piano and voice students of all levels, from beginning to aspiring professionals. Shelby approaches singing from a classical perspective, as her goal is to give students the healthiest technique as a foundation for all genres. Shelby utilizes creative pedagogical techniques to allow students to perform at the highest levels.

Application deadline

Registration applications for On Stage! Musical Theatre Institute must be completed online or postmarked by July 1, 2013; registration after this date is by space availability only. Registration includes a completed registration form and a non-refundable deposit of $100 to reserve your space.

Age

All applicants should be between the ages of 6-18.

Other Deadlines

Once accepted, unless notification of withdrawal from On Stage! Musical Theatre Institute is received in writing by 6/15/2013, the student and parent/guardian are considered legally responsible for payment of fees in full. All fees must be paid in full by 7/1/2013.
